Chinese electronics major Lenovo on Tuesday unveiled its ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Ultrabook optimised for Windows 8 OS.

ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Ultrabook is now available in U.S. for $1,499.

"Bringing touch gesture control to our best ThinkPad ever is a natural evolution of the portfolio and a big step towards fulfilling our promise to bring computers into a new PC+ era," said Peter Hortensius, president of Lenovo Product Group.

He further said, "We are excited to be able to offer customers the best experience in a thin and light business class Ultrabook. The X1 Carbon Touch is the Ultrabook to beat." 

The company claimed that ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is world's thinnest 14-inch Ultrabook. The device measures just 20.8 mm in thickness and weighs 1.36 kg. The Ultrabook is made of carbon fiber material, which makes it more durable than conventional notebooks.

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch features RapidCharge technology which can charge 80 percent of the battery within 35 minutes.

The company says that the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Ultrabook provides state-of-art security and manageability which includes vPro, integrated fingerprint reader, trusted platform module and BIOS encryption helpful for business professionals.

Lenovo unveiled the ThinkPad X1 Carbon way back in August this year, now the company has released the Windows 8-based Ultrabook in the US market. Release dates for Europe and Asia are still under wraps.
