The Major League Soccer (MLS) has been referred to as a happy hunting ground for star footballers who are past their age and now, the fans have ridiculed the players directly.

England legend Frank Lampard and Italy veteran Andrea Pirlo were trolled during an MLS derby featuring the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC on Sunday.

The match took place at the Red Bull Arena and although the hosts won 2-0, the Red Bulls fans stole the limelight as they showcased a huge banner, dedicated to the New York duo, with the words "City Retirement Home".

Lampard, 37, and Pirlo, 36, were signed by the MLS franchisee as their designated players for the current season.
