Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji-hyun starrer period drama The Legend Of The Blue Sea will be premiered this Wednesday, November 16, at 10 pm KST on SBS. Apart from introducing the lead characters, episode 1 might also take its viewers through a roller coaster of events.
The period drama is based on a Korean legend about a fisherman and a mermaid who lived during the Joseon era. While introducing a skilled conman named Heo Joon-jae, the show will also feature the romance between a nobleman from the Dam-lim family and a mermaid named Shim Chung in the flashback sequence.
From the promos and the teaser images released by SBS, it can be assumed that the mini-series has more to do with re-birth of the lead characters in modern days. At the same time, it will focus on how they connect with each other and help in hard times.

The male protagonist Heo Joon-jae will be played by Lee Min Ho and the female lead Shim Chung will be portrayed by Jun Ji-hyun. Child and teenage Shim Chung will be represented onscreen by Kal So-won and Shin Eun-soo. The young ages of Heo Joon-jae will be portrayed by Jeon Jin-seo and Park Jin-young.
Other cast members of the mini-series include Lee Hee-joon as Jo Nam-doo, Shin Hye-sun as Cha Si-a, Lee Ji-hoon as Heo Chi-hyun, Moon So-ri as Ahn Jin-jo, Choi Jung-woo as Heo Gil-joong, Shin Won-ho as Tae-O, Hwang Shin-hye as Kang Seo-hee and Park Hae-soo as Hong Dong-pyo.
