Lava Mobile is set to introduce its much-anticipated Iris Pro smartphones on Friday. The company has finally decided to end the long wait after teasing its latest range of smartphones under the Iris Pro series in the past year.

Lava Mobile, a longtime player in the domestic smartphone market, announced on Monday that it would introduce its Iris Pro range smartphones in India soon. There is no clarity on the launch date, but various media reports suggest that Lava would launching its Iris Pro smartphone on 17 January.

The Iris Pro smartphones will entice smartphone lovers with the tagline "Art Meets Smart". The first smartphone from Iris Pro series is said to weigh just 114 grams and come with premium features like Content Adaptive backlight control (CABC), fully laminated touch panel and Corning Gorilla glass. The handsets are likely to compete with the likes of Chinese handset maker Gionee in the Indian smartphone market.

Lava had recently launched Iris 405 smartphone, which is said to be an upgraded version of the Lava Iris 405. It sports a 4-inch super LCD WVGA display with a pixel density of 233ppi and is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM. It also comes equipped with a 5-megapixel fixed-focus rear camera having 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. On the connectivity front, the latest Iris smartphone supports Bluetooth with A2DP, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPRS, EDGE, GPS/ AGPS and 3G (HSPA ) and Micro-USB. The device is priced at ₹6,999.
