Indigenous smartphone maker, Lava Mobiles has launched a budget Android jelly bean handset in India to be available online.

The new phone sports 4.0-inch WVGA (480x800p) display and runs on the Android v4.2 Jelly Bean OS powered by the 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A7 processor backed by 512 MB RAM and 4GB ROM (expandable up to 32GB).

Other stipulated features include 3.0-megapixel main camera (with LED flash), 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front camera, a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery which can run smartphone for 200 hours under standby mode, dual-SIM slots, Bluetooth v4.0 (with A2DP), Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Assisted-GPS with Google Maps for navigation.

As of now, the Lava Iris 402+ can only be purchased at online store Flipkart for ₹5,499 and is expected to be made available in local retail shops shortly.

Lava Iris 402+ will be competing with local players such as Micromax Bolt A67, Cnvas Fun A63, Karbonn Smart A26, Smart A7 Star and MNC branded Nokia Asha series as well as Samsung Rex line of handsets. It might even cannibalize sales of sister brand Xolo A5005 and A500L.
