'The Last of Us' for PS3 and PS4 is easily one of the best titles we have come across in the past three years. Although it's been a while since the original game was released, it doesn't seem like its popularity will come down anytime in the near future. Maybe sensing that, Naughty Dog has released a brand new standalone expansion to the game – Left Behind.

As revealed, "The Last of Us: Left Behind" will be a standalone experience that will be released on 12 May for PS3 and PS4. As far as added goodies are concerned, there will also be a two-hour demo for the game's Factions multiplayer.

"We've also included a two hour trial of the Factions Multiplayer mode. The Left Behind standalone game will have built-in upgrade paths through the in-game store to both the full Factions experience and/or the full game for The Last of Us," the company confirmed on its official site.

Note that while the expansion costs $9.99, there will be a plethora of upgrade options for those who pick it up and then go for the full experience. Interested players on the PS4 can pick up the Factions multiplayer for $9.99/€9.99/£7.99.

Besides, the digital single-player with Treacherous Territories (for those who already own Factions) will cost $29.99/€24.99/£19.99. Apart from that, the full game with all the multiplayer content will cost $39.99/€34.99/£28.99.

The PS3 version of Factions multiplayer, on the other hand, will cost $9.99/€9.99/£7.99, while the single-player Treacherous Territories will cost $19.99/€14.99/£11.99. Overall, the full experience is set to cost you $29.99/€24.99/£19.99.

"While part of the story of Left Behind takes place during the main narrative arc of The Last of Us, I think some of the best and most touching moments of any game in recent memory occur during the prequel segments, as we follow Ellie and Riley as they sneak out of boarding school to visit an abandoned mall, getting one final chance to enjoy their friendship before Riley leaves to join the Fireflies," the page added.
