Kumkum Bhagya, which has been ruling the Television Rating Points (TRPs) charts since its inception three years ago, is set to introduce a spin-off. While it was reported earlier that the new show would focus more on the story of Pragya's (Smriti Jha) family, especially her father, more details have now been revealed.
The spin-off is titled Kundali Bhagya, according to India Forums. The show will replace Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani at the 9:30 pm slot. Since Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani is set to go off air on July 4, Kundali Bhagya is expected to start from July 5 onwards.
With this, Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya will be the second show on Indian Television to have a spin-off, after Star Plus launched the first ever spin-off of the popular show, Ishqbaaaz, titled Dil Bole Oberoi.
Kumkum Bhagya revolves around the life of Abhi Mehra (Shabir Ahluwalia) and Pragya Mehra (Sriti Jha) and their on-and-off relationship. For the past several months, Pragya has been on a mission to reveal the truth about the antagonists, Tanu (Leena Jumani) and Alia (Shikha Singh), to Abhi.
Now, with the introduction of the spin-off of Kumkum Bhagya, it seems the makers are in no mood to put an end to the over-stretched plot of Pragya's mission, but also want to bring some freshness to the story through Kundali Bhagya.
