There were rumours doing the rounds that superstar Rajinikanth fainted during the shooting of his upcoming film "Lingaa."

It was reported that the actor was hospitalised in Hyderabad after falling sick on the sets of "Lingaa." But, the film's director KS Ravi Kumar has denied the rumours and confirmed the superstar is doing well.

Ravi Kumar posted a message on his Facebook page refuting speculations about Rajinikanth's ill health.

Early in the day, rumours started making rounds in the famous tamil news daily that Super star #Rajinikanth had fallen sick while shooting for his upcoming film #Lingaa.

The news is false & Baseless " Mr.#Rajinikanth is hale and hearty; very much happily active in the shooting and the news published are absolutely false ones.

This should bring some relief for scores of Rajinikanth fans who would have been shocked on hearing the hoax news.

The shooting of "Lingaa" is progressing well in Hyderabad. The film, touted to be a commercial entertainer, will have Rajinikanth appearing in dual roles. "Lingaa" also has Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Shetty, Dev Gill, Jagapathi Babu and Santhanam in supporting roles.

The film will be Rajinikanth's second release of 2014 after historic 3D drama "Kochadaiiyaan." Superstar returned to the silver screen with "Kochadaiiyaan" nearly after three years much to the delight of his fans. They will soon be treated with "Lingaa", which is expected to hit the screens for the actor's birthday in December. However, the film's makers are yet to officially confirm the release date.

AR Rahman is scoring the music for "Lingaa", while cinematography is handled by Rathnavelu and editing by Don Max. The big-budget entertainer is produced by Rockline Venkatesh.

Even as "Lingaa" is yet to be completed, there have been rumours about Rajinikanth's next project. Buzz is that the superstar will team with director Shankar for "Endhiran 2." There were also speculations that bollywood actor Aamir Khan will be playing the villain in the film.

However, Aamir Khan's spokesperson has denied the rumours and told the Times of India that "There's no truth to this at all."

Shankar is currently busy with "Ai", starring Vikram and Amy Jackson. The director is expected to announce his next project only after "Ai" hits the screens. The film is expected to release in September, but an official word is still awaited in this regard.
