After a good run in cinemas, Kriti Sanon and Dhanush' Tere Ishk Mein has now dropped on Netflix. The much-awaited film is now available on the OTT app for viewing. But, it is one of the first few scenes in the film that has made the audience pause and question. In a scene towards the very beginning of the Anand L Rai film, Kriti is seen talking about her 2200-page thesis as a PhD student.
The scene is of Kriti playing the role of Mukti Beniwal, a psychology research scholar from Delhi university. Needless to say, the scene looked as abrupt as it sounded. And soon, social media was quick to crack jokes, memes and even school the makers.

Reactions to the scene
"I would genuinely like to meet this PhD student who writes a 2200-page thesis! I know movies take cinematic liberty, but LMAO dude at least try to sound a bit realistic!! wrote a user.
"As a PhD student, I will never get over this," another user commented.

"Man, as a PhD student, this part knocked me out. (As did the whole movie, tbh.) Even though I am in science, I could see how ludicrous it all was. Like, WTF was the idea, and how did the committee even pass it so she moved to defense? Don't they know there are stages to approval?" read a comment.
"Almost everything said and done in this film in the name of a PhD is a joke. I laughed out loud," another comment read.
"2200 pages is just so unbelievably ridiculous," one more of the comments read.
"Sir you think PhD thesis of 2200 pages was unbelievable then watch the movie. Upsc aspirant becomes pilot and hero dies to save someone's else child," a twitter user opined.
"It will be outright rejected by your guide for being too long," another user commented.
The film, promoted as Raanjhanaa's spiritual sequel had released in theatres in November 2025.
