Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan" ("Vikrama Simha" in Telugu), which has been pushed to 23 May, is all set to clash with other-language films such as Akkineni multi starrer "Manam" and Tiger Shroff's "Heropanti."
"Kochadaiiyaan" was scheduled to release on 9 May, however the film's makers announced the delay in the release due to technical snags and set 23 May as the new release date. A couple of Tamil films including Santhanam's "Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham" and Kreshna's "Yaamirukka Bayamey" cashed in on the delay and hit the screens during the weekend.
However, it will be affecting a few other-language films that have been scheduled to release on 23 May.
In Tamil, Karthi Subburaj's "Jigarthanda" was slated to hit screens in the third week of May. But now that the Rajinikanth starrer will be out on theatres during that time, the makers might delay the film's release.
In Telugu, Nagarjuna's "Manam" will be releasing on 23 May. The film has three generations of the Akkineni family members including Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya, appearing in pivotal roles. The family drama is Nageswara Rao's last film in his illustrious career.
"Manam" was expected to have a solo big release in Telugu. With "Kochadaiiyaan" slated to hit theatres on the same day, both the films are gearing up for a big clash. The Rajini starrer is likely to release in good number of screens worldwide. "Manam" might end up getting lesser number of screens for its release and this might affect its business prospects. It remains to be seen if the Telugu biggie will release on the scheduled date or will there be any change in their release date.
In Hindi, "Kochadaiiyaan" will be clashing with Tiger Shroff's (Jackie Shroff's son) debut flick "Heropanti." Interestingly, Jackie Shroff is doing a pivotal role in the Rajinikanth starrer. Bollywood fans will be witnessing a father-son competition on 23 May and it will be interesting to see as to whose film will emerge as the winner.
In Kannada, Yash's "Gajakesari" is expected to release on 23 May. However, there is no confirmation on the film's exact release date.
