Mauzzafarnagar/ New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): Khap leader from Uttar Pradesh, Naresh Tikait, said the Supreme Court should not encourage marriages within the same clan and warned the high command not to interfere in these matters. Earlier, the Supreme Court has told the Centre and state governments to act promptly in cases of dishonour killings and to provide protection to couples who face such threats from khap panchayats or village councils often accused of dispensing medieval-style justice leading to murders and social ostracisation of couples. Speaking on the same, social activist Annie Raja said that khap panchayat is an anti women force which should not be there.
