Prashanth Neel's period drama KGF has set a new bench mark for the Sandalwood in the US. Not only the movie saw a simultaneous release in five languages, it has also shown the potential of Kannada market in this part of the world.

After releasing with premieres on 20 December, KGF has managed to do well at the box office. The film had seen the light of the day in 100 screens in over 60 locations. Cutting across language barriers, cine-goers from Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada watched the film, thereby helping the Yash-starrer to set a new milestone in the US.

By the end of 15 days, KGF is estimated to have grossed $735,000+. It is a very huge number for a Kannada movie. The previous highest-grossing film was RangiTaranga, which had collected $315,098 in its lifetime.

KGF had minted $62,014 from its premieres across the North America and ended its first weekend at $307871. Generally, a film's business drops post first weekend, but in case of the Yash-starrer, the collection remained stable and earned $522848 in its first week.
