As news of as many as 17 youth from Kerala suspected to have links with the terror outfit Islamic State (Isis) spread, Intelligence Bureau (IB) arrested a young man in Mumbai on Sunday for his alleged links with the group. The arrested youth has been identified as Firooz Khan, 24, who went missing from Trikkaripur village of Kasaragod district in Kerala.

IB arrested Khan from a hotel in Mumbai after tracking him down though signals from his mobile phone. Khan had got in touch with his parents back home on Saturday after news surfaced that 15 youth who went missing from Kerala were feared to have joined Isis. Khan revealed during the interrogation that the some of the people who left home earlier last month have reached Syria. However, the police are yet to establish his links with the terror outfit or the group from Kerala feared to have joined the Isis.

Meanwhile, sources privy to the investigation have confirmed to International Business Times India that some of the missing persons appear to have links with Isis and are believed to have travelled to join the terror group. It was reported earlier that the people who went missing could have travelled to their destinations in small groups. However, it is yet to be revealed whether all of them know each other.

The missing persons from Kerala include two pregnant women and a child. Of them, 12 people hail from Kasaragod while four youth belong to Palakkad and one hails from Thiruvananthapuram.

The family members of some of the missing people met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday. He promised them swift action in the matter.
