Kochi, Aug 30 (ANI): The agrarian festival Onam, which marks the homecoming of legendary king Mahabali, began in Kerala with pomp and show. The 10-day long harvest festival celebrations begin every year with Aathachamayam (The Royal Parade on Aatham Day) in Thripunithara (a suburb of Kochi City). The main centre of the festival is at Thrikakkara temple in Kochi city which is believed to be the ancient capital of King Mahabali. The Temple festival also marks the beginning of the harvest festival. The festival is greatly awaited across Kerala, as it is believed that the harvest festival heralds prosperity and happiness in the society.
