The Kerala Assembly Elections on Monday, May 16, 2016, witnessed 77.35 percent turnout. Many Mollywood celebrities were among those who cast their vote from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to decide the fate of 140 candidates. Apart from doing their duty, the celebrities also urged their fans to do their part by voting.

Actor and LDF candidate Mukesh cast his vote at Cherukad in Kollam, while actor-turned-Rajya Sabha member Suresh Gopi got his finger inked in Thiruvananthapuram. Up-and-coming Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan, after exercising his franchise for the first time at Panampilly nagar in Kochi, urged his fans to vote, saying it was the responsibility of each of them. "The only ink you need ! Go Vote ! It's our right and our responsibility !! You're not cool if you don't vote ! [sic]," the actor posted on his Facebook page.

Megastar Mammootty, Kavya Madhavan, Jayaram, Dileep and cricketer S Sreesanth, who is also an NDA candidate from Thiruvananthapuram, got inked at various voting booths in Ernakulam district. Actress Sanusha Sanoop, who is awaiting the release of an upcoming Unni Mukundan-starrer also shared a photo in which the actress and her mother are seen waiting to get inked outside a voting booth. Sreenivasan and his wife voted at Kandanad in Tripunithura.

"We are a lucky few in this world who have the right to democratically select our government. Do your part. Vote. ‪#‎mandatoryvotedayselfie‬ [sic]," actress Rima Kallingal wrote on her Facebook page while sharing a selfie with her husband and filmmaker Aashiq Abu.

The results of Kerala Assembly Elections 2016 will be declared on May 19.
