The launch episode of "Kaun Banega Crorepati 8" in Surat, Gujarat, reportedly received a massive response.

Amitabh Bachchan uploaded pictures from the grand premiere on his blog and wrote, "We've had a splendid night at the Surat stadium ... all apprehensions gone , all mediocre elements , particularly the performing ones springing surprises .. and what a night with KBC .."

First contestant, businesswoman Deepa Jagtiani, won ₹6,40,000 at the launch. She reportedly made an impressive start, but ended up using all of her lifelines.

The Business Standard quoted PTI, "before signing out of the show, Deepa, who was accompanied by her brother and mother on the show, also requested the 71-year-old host to recite the dialogues of his superhit film 'Agneepath'."

The senior actor's TV debut "Yudh" hasn't fared well and is continuing in a sluggish pace. Hopefully, the positive response "KBC" has received in its first episode continues and turns out to be a redeemer for the megastar.

Started in 2000, "KBC" is an adaptation of the UK game show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" This year, the makers of the show have focused on peace and religious bonding. The tag line has been very interestingly put as "Yahan sirf paise nahi dil bhi jeete jate hain."
