Diwali release "Kaththi" has emerged as the highest grossing Vijay film in the United States by surpassing "Thuppakki" collections.

"Kaththi" has minted $376,881 in four days (Tuesday-Friday) and has beaten "Thuppakki" collections which amount to $375,000. "Kaththi" will soon become the only non-Rajinikanth and non-Kamal Haasan film to cross the $400,000 mark. So far, only Tamil films including "Shivaji", "Dasavatharam", "Endhiran", "Kochadaiiyaan" and "Vishwaroopam" have managed to surpass $400,000 mark.

"#Kaththi Friday gross $105301,total so far $376881,close to bcomin highest non Rajini Kamal grosser in USA and right on track to hit $500K+!" according to ATMUS Entertainment, distributors of Tamil films in the US.

The Vijay starrer has also fared well at the UK and Australia box offices. It has minted £117,974 in UK and A$ 95,594 in Australia. "Tamil film #Kaththi – UK: Fri £ 38,079. Total: £ 117,974 [₹ 1.16 cr]. Note: Film had released earlier. Source: Rentrak," film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"Tamil film #Kaththi – Australia: Thu A$ 13,566, Fri A$ 27,887. Total: A$ 95,594 [₹ 51.49 lacs]. Note: Film had released earlier. Rentrak," he said.

"Kaththi" is performing exceptionally well in India where the film minted over ₹16 crore on the first day of its release. Besides rocking the Tamil Nadu box office, the action thriller has done commendable business in Kerala. The film has grossed ₹4.5 crore in four days at the Kerala box office. Its net amount stands close to ₹3.8 crore and the film has turned out to be a safe project, an insider in the Kerala industry told Behindwoods.

If "Kaththi" continues to fare well, it is likely to beat "Thuppakki" collections in the state. The film's Kerala distributors, Thameens, are reportedly happy with the film's performance in the state.

The success of "Kaththi" should bring in relief for Vijay whose last two releases "Thalaivaa" and "Jilla" turned out to be average performers. Vijay appears in a dual role in "Kaththi" for the third time after "Azahgiya Thamizhmagan and "Villu." The film is directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Ayngaran International.

The Vijay starrer is also expected to continue doing good business despite new releases like "Happy New Year" and "Poojai."
