Oscar winning actress Kate Winslet, who secretly married her fiancé Ned RocknRoll in New York, is getting an expensive wedding gift - a trip to space with her hubby.
Ned's uncle Sir Richard Branson, founder and chairman of Virgin Group, has reportedly given Kate a space trip as a wedding gift for rescuing his 90-year-old mum Eve after his Necker Island home caught fire last year.
The newly weds will join the 60-mile high club on a Virgin Galactic flight scheduled for next year. The trip is a two-hour flight to 60 miles above earth where passengers will experience weightlessness and see Earth's curve, reported The Sun.
Branson's space company Virgin Galactic is planning a commercial flight to space next year. Each ticket will cost a whopping £124,000.
Kate Winslet married Ned Rocknroll at a secret ceremony that was attended by six friends from each side. Among the guests were the actress' children Mia and Joe, from her previous marriages to film directors Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes. Her friend and "Titanic" co-star Leonardo DiCaprio gave her away, reported the magazine.
It was said that the parents of the couple were not informed of the wedding.
"Kate and Ned got married in a really romantic and private ceremony. They had been planning it for a while. They are both so happy and very much in love. Kate is very private and didn't want anyone to know. She asked if Leo would give her away because they are best friends," a source told The Sun.
"Kate has never looked so happy. Since she and Ned got together it has been full steam ahead. Marriage has always been on the cards and they've been talking about doing it for the last couple of months," added a friend.
The 37-year-old actress was earlier married to director Jim Threapleton and has a daughter Mia Honey with him. Two years after her divorce from Threapleton in 2001, Kate married film director Sam Mendes and gave birth to son Joe Alfie. The couple parted ways in 2010.
