Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Gowri-Ganesha festival and appealed to them to maintain peace and harmony during the celebrations.
In his festive message, Shivakumar prayed for happiness, peace and prosperity across Karnataka and sought the blessings of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, for good rainfall and a bountiful harvest.
He said the celebrations should be conducted responsibly and urged people to install eco-friendly Ganesha idols. He also appealed to devotees to maintain peace and harmony during the festivities and the immersion of idols.
Shivakumar paid special tribute to the mothers of Karnataka, describing them as embodiments of Goddess Gowri, who is worshipped first during the festival.
The Chief Minister also said the festive spirit and joy of the occasion would be further enhanced by the "light of contentment" that has emerged in crores of households through the state government's guarantee schemes.
Shivakumar also released a one-minute video message conveying his greetings to the people of Karnataka.
Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda also extended his greetings on the occasion and prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being across the state.
Deve Gowda invoked the blessings of Goddess Gauri and Lord Ganesha and wished for happiness, good health, longevity, prosperity and contentment for the people.
He also prayed for relief from the drought-like situation prevailing in Karnataka and expressed hope that conditions would improve soon without affecting agriculture and farming activities.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Sri Swarna Gowri and Ganesh Chaturthi.
Kumaraswamy prayed that Goddess Swarna Gowri and Lord Ganesha would alleviate the difficulties faced by people and bring happiness, peace, contentment and prosperity across the state.
BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra also conveyed his festive greetings and prayed for the blessings of Goddess Gowri and Lord Ganesha upon the people of Karnataka.
Vijayendra wished for happiness, peace, good health and prosperity in every household and prayed that Lord Ganesha remove obstacles in the pursuit of good deeds.
He also expressed hope that Ganesh Chaturthi would mark the beginning of a new phase of goodwill, harmony and noble deeds across Karnataka. Vijayendra also released a video message on the occasion.
