Ashutosh Gowariker's upcoming project "Mohenjo Daro" has Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra vying for the female lead.

While the director has already signed Hrithik Roshan as the male lead, the lead actress is yet to be finalised. And now it has emerged that both Khan and Chopra have expressed interest in the film and approached the filmmaker for the role, according to Bollywood Life.

Previous reports claimed that Gowariker had initially approached Deepika Padukone and later Katrina Kaif for the part. But both actresses had turned down the role, citing their packed schedule.

But now as both Khan and Chopra have come forward voluntarily, the director will surely be in a dilemma, having to pick one and turning down the other.

"Ashutosh is currently busy shooting for his TV show, 'Everest', due to which he has not started working on the film's casting. He is yet to approach any heroine, though it is true that some of them have spoken to him and shown interest in starring in the project," the report quoted a source.

While Chopra has teamed up successfully with Roshan in films like "Krrish", "Agneepath" and "Krrish 3" in recent years, the Roshan-Khan duo was last seen together more than a decade ago in "Mujhse Dosti Karoge!" (2002). The actors were all set to reunite in Karan Johar's ambitious project "Shuddhi" but things came to a halt after Roshan opted out of the project, following which Khan also made an exit.

Both Chopra and Khan's names had also come up during the casting of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani". Both actresses were said to be in consideration for the supporting role of Kashibai. But Chopra grabbed the part after Khan refused to play the second fiddle in the period romance, which has Padukone in the female lead of Mastani.

Even in Zoya Akhtar's multi-starrer "Dil Dhadakne Do", a prominent role was initially offered to Khan but after she rejected the part, Chopra was cast.

"Mohenjo Daro" is set to be a big-budget period drama with a central romantic plot. It remains to be seen whether Roshan gets to reunite with Khan finally through Gowariker's film or whether Chopra bags the project again.
