Since the start of the year, the Indian market has seen a slew of big-screen handset releases from both domestic and international companies. And surprisingly, the country's smartphone business is pre-dominantly ruled by local manufacturers thanks to the affordability of the devices.

Now, Chinese smartphone makers known for their cheap feature-phones have joined the race to get a formidable market share in the lucrative low-cost phablet segment.

After China's second biggest smartphone maker Gionee forayed into the India market, another company Huawei has come up with an affordable big-screen smartphone, Ascend G510, to give a stiff challenge to Indian rivals such as Micromax A116 Canvas HD, Karbonn Titanium S5 and Lava's Xolo Q800.

It will be a daunting task for the Chinese maker to be able recreate the cult status that Micromax smartphones have gained. But can it match Ascend G510 to the second popular Indian smartphone - the Titanium S5?

Here is a brief comparison of Karbonn Titanium S5 and Huawei Ascend G510:

Karbonn Titanium S5 sports a 5.0-inch qHD IPS capacitive screen with 540x960p display resolution and pixel count of close to 220 pixels per inch. Huawei's Ascend G510 too sports a competitive 4.5-inch display with TFT LCD WVGA display with 480x854p resolution and  pixel density of 218 ppi.

In terms of power, Huawei smartphone packs a dual-core Qualcomm Cortex A5 processor with 1.2GHz Clock speed. On the other hand. Karbonn Titanium S5 takes lead with its 1.2GHz quad-core processor which is more energy efficient and faster than the Chinese competitor.

Titanium S5 packs an 8.0-megapixel main camera with Auto-focus and flash support and a 2.0-megapixel front camera. Ascend too houses an impressive 8.0-megapixel main camera with auto-focus and flash support, and a 0.3-megapixel VGA secondary camera on the front.

Mobile Operating System:

In terms of mobile OS, they both stand even in this department as Huawei and Karbonn Titanium S5 run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.

Memory and RAM:

Both Karbonn and Huawei smartphones have 1GB RAM and an in-built capacity of 4GB with options of expanding up to 32GB via microSD card.

In terms of battery capacity, network connectivity and add-ons such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other specs, both Karbonn Titanium S5 and Huawei Ascend G510 have similar features with minor differences.

Titanium S5 currently sells for ₹12,090, whereas Huawei smartphone is priced ₹10,990, ₹1100 costlier than its competitor. But the Karbonn smartphone justifies its price with the energy efficient quad-core processor and a good 2.0-megapixel front camera.
