It seems mobile phone manufacturer Karbonn is set to take on Google in tablet market, as it is planning to launch a new tablet working on Jelly Bean.

Karbonn announced during the launch of its first tablet on Thursday that the company will launch a 9.7 inch screen size tablet in September, which will work on Google's Jelly Bean.

Google Nexus 7 tablet was in the news last month after it was released at its annual developer conference Google I/O held in San Francisco. It will be the first device to ship with Jelly Bean, a new version of Android. Jelly Bean uses cards to help gets the right information at the right time.

Nexus 7 has 7" 1280x800 HD display. It features 1.3GHz Nvidia Tegra-3 chipset, with a quad-core CPU and 12-core Graphics Processing Unit GPU, making everything, including games, extremely fast. And best of all, it's only 340 grams, lighter than most tablets out there. It is the first 7 inch tablet with a quad core processor. It also has 1.2-megapixel front camera with 8GB memory and will be priced at $199.

Karbonn's new tablet could give Nexus 7 a run for the money as it will feature a 9.7 inch screen size and will run on Jelly Bean, which is also used in Google's tablet.

Karbonn on Thursday launched its first tablet on Google' Android platform called Smart Tab 1, which will cost Rs 6,990.
