Kapil Sharma is finally set to return to the small screen after a gap of about five months. While speculations are rife that it is the sequel to his comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show, a few reports claim that the comedian's comeback project is a game show.

Recently, a SpotboyE report said that the game show, which will be aired on Sony TV, is inspired from the American game show The Hollywood Squares, in which two contestants play tic-tac-toe to win cash and prizes.

If it is so, we wonder if Kapil will manage to impress viewers as a host of a game show. Earlier, superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan also tried their hands on hosting game shows, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? and Dus Ka Dum, respectively. However, both the shows received a lukewarm response and couldn't make it to the top TRP charts, irrespective of the actors' star power.

Kapil's career has been in a free fall ever since his mid-air brawl with Sunil Grover made headlines in March 2017. Not only did he lose his loyal colleagues, the incident also resulted in his popular show The Kapil Sharma Show going off the air.

A few months later, his much-hyped film Firangi too bombed at the box office, making the comedian-actor look for other opportunities.

Talking about the ace comedian's keenness to host a game show, a source had earlier told the website, "Kapil feels that post making audiences laugh, he should venture into a game show now. In fact, he is keen that his friend Nikunj Malik -- who shot to fame when he participated in Rahul Mahajan's Swayamvar – be a part of it."

Meanwhile, Kapil is also aware of his star power in comedy genre and hence, the plan for the new season of The Kapil Sharma Show is also on. It was reported that Kapil had shot for the promo recently.

The new season will see the entire cast of The Kapil Sharma Show would join him on The Kapil Sharma Show 2, except for Sunil, who played the role of Dr. Mashoor Gulati.
