As reported earlier, "The Kapil Sharma Show" opened to a live audience Monday at New Delhi's Siri Fort Auditorium. Funnyman Kapil Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan brought the house down with their antics.

Some of the photos and videos, which are out on social media, are proof that the maiden episode, scheduled to air April 23 on Sony TV, is sure to be a blast. Kapil and SRK matching steps to "Jabra Fan" brought loud cheers from the spectators.

The superstar was on the show to promote his upcoming film "Fan," in which he essays a double role — superstar Aryan Khanna and his fan Gaurav Chandana. The Maneesh Sharma directorial opens in theatres April 15 and features Sayani Gupta and Waluscha De Sousa in key roles.

Kapil's show is set to be a finite series with only 26 episodes. Unlike the first episode, the rest will be shot at a set.

"Only the opening act will be live for rest we will have a set and a family. All the characters will be seen in a different avatar. We will also have common people sharing the gags. However we haven't locked on the final get-up of the actors," he told Absolute India News last month.

Meanwhile, here's a lowdown on what triggered Kapil and his team to strike out on their own.

Kapil had been the face of "Comedy Nights With Kapil" for a little over two years when he had a falling out with Colors channel over various reasons. He was then replaced with "Comedy Nights Bachao" host Krushna Abhishek.

What followed next was a slew of controversial comments passed by Krushna. He said Kapil was insecure and so left the "battlefield." The latter however maintained a stern silence until the day he announced his latest project "The Kapil Sharma Show."

"We are not competitors. We have worked on the same platform in many shows. He is doing well for himself," Kapil told the daily when asked about Krushna taking over his show ("CNWK").
