Actress Prema filed for divorce from her husband Jeevan Appachu at a family court Wednesday, March 2. With this, their 10-year-old relationship will come to an end soon.

Filmibeat reports that the couple has signed the divorce petition on mutual consent under the Hindu Marriage Act Section 13(D). After hearing the petitioners, the court will refer the case to the counselling centre. The couple has been living separately for the last few years due to irreconcilable differences.

After ruling the Kannada film industry for years, Prema married businessman Jeevan Appachu in 2006.

She is the latest celebrity in the Kannada film industry whose relationship has failed in recent times, after Sudeep-Priya, Shruthi-S Mahendar, Anu Prabhakar-Krishnakumar and Rajesh Krishnan-Ramya.

Prema had acted in female lead roles in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu language flicks. But she earned stardom in Sandalwood. The prestigious Rajkumar family introduced her to industry with "Savyasachi," starring Shivaraj Kumar.

But it was Upendra-directorial "Om" that brought her into the limelight. She had won the Karnataka State Award for Best Actress for this flick. Since then, the 39-year-old acted in over 75 films and paired up with stars like Vishnuvardhan, Mohanlal, Venkatesh, Jagapati Babu, Mohan Babu, Krishna, Ravichandran, Saikumar and Ramesh Aravind.
