Raghava Lawrence starrer "Kanchana 2" has beaten "Ok Kanmani" at the box office in the opening weekend dominating over the Dulquer Salman-Nithya Menen starrer at various centres.

"Kanchana 2" has earned ₹17.5 crore in the first weekend and has emerged a big winner at the box office. Leading trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai announced the news on Twitter and wrote, "#Kanchana2 is going to be a Mega blockbuster. Opening weekend - Apr 17 to 19 - Total gross TN = Rs 17.5 Cr!! Huge numbers & Massive.

The movie has performed well in Kerala, Karnataka and other parts of India. Pillai added: "#Kanchana2 is doing extraordinary business in Kerala. From 40 screens (Apr 17 to 19) net Rs 88 Lakhs. Next Fri another 60 screens 2 b added!"

He concluded, "#Kanchana2 - Karnataka -Rocking - 3 day Net Rs 1.55 Cr. Pl note Saturday Bandh saw cancellation of MS,NS & Matinee shows. #Kanchana2 - North India (Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Delhi etc) , 3 day Net = Rs 22 lakhs, Fab! Overseas it is doing extraordinary business."

"Ok Kanmani" has raked in only ₹6.3 crore in Tamil Nadu.

While "Kanchana 2" has been grandly welcomed by the audience in all the centres, the Mani Ratnam's movie has done well at urban centres.

However, the overseas performance of "Ok Kanmani" is good. The movie has made ₹2.18 crore in US and ₹46.42 lakh in UK. The response is commendable in Malaysia and a few other foreign circuits.
