"The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco and tennis pro husband Ryan Sweeting have decided to split after being married for 21 months.

Cuoco, 29, and Sweeting, 28, tied the knot on 31 December, 2013 and were only three months short of celebrating their two year anniversary.

A representative of Cuoco said that the couple "mutually decided to end their marriage," according to People. "They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter," the representative added.

Cuoco is devastated by the split and in finding solace in her sister Briana, according to HollywoodLife.com. "She doesn't want to talk about the divorce. She just wants to have alone time and be with her sister and her dogs, Norman and Ruby," it reported.

Cuoco and Sweeting had a whirlwind romance. While on the "Late Show with David Letterman," in February 2014, the actress explained how after "a bit of text" and "great dinner," Sweeting "moved in" with her the following day.

Cuoco and Sweeting took the world by surprise when they said "I Do" after dating for three months. Split rumours have been doing the rounds for months now, but the couple always refuted the reports.

Earlier in April, Cuoco rubbished the rumours via a long Instagram message where she said that she is "proud" of Sweeting's "passion and inner strength to fight back," but most significantly "to be his wife."

"All of you who take it upon yourselves to trash our marriage, daily workings of our relationship and everything in between go ahead and keep doing it, cause it only makes us stronger," she wrote.

It's sad to see that there won't be any more too-sweet-to-handle Instagram pictures from the duo, who often shared these moments with their fans. Cuoco has eliminated any chance of that after she cut off Sweeting from all her social media accounts.

Their romance raised many questions due to the little time they gave to know each other. Although they hoped to make it last long, their tornado like relationship caved in at the end. And the bizarre irony is that Cuoco who portrays the popular character of Penny on the CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" just got married to Leonard, played by her former beau Johnny Galecki.
