"Kabali" ruled the Chennai box office last weekend. The Tamil film did well at the collection centres and also beat Hollywood movie "Star Trek Beyond" in its first weekend.

"Kabali" has minted Rs. 3.49 crore in Chennai from 942 shows, reported Behindwoods. The multiplexes and single screens had dedicated almost all the screens for the Rajinikanth-starrer in the first weekend. As a result, the movie had a huge number of shows in the capital city of Tamil Nadu, which helped the film do record business.

The movie also performed well on Monday and Tuesday. As per trade reports, "Kabali" has earned over Rs. 5 crore in Chennai until now.

"Star Trek Beyond" is at a distant second place at the Chennai box office. The Hollywood film could only earn a meagre Rs. 2.79 lakh from 15 shows in its first weekend in Chennai. Santhanam's "Dhilluku Dhuddu" is in the third place after earning Rs. 2.23 lakh from 21 shows. The total collection of the film by the end of its third weekend stands at Rs. 4.07 crore.

"Ice Age: Collision Course" has earned Rs. 1.04 lakh from nine shows to take its 10-day total to Rs. 1.07 crore. Bollywood film "Sultan" is in the next position by raking in less than Rs. 1 lakh. The total collection of the Salman Khan-starrer in Chennai stands at Rs. 2.15 crore.
