Jose Mourinho does not want to leave any stones unturned ahead of the new Premier League season. He has already mentioned that he wants to win every game and for that he will be needing a perfect injury-free squad.

The newly-appointed Manchester United manager, who has already made an impact, wants to trim his squad. At this moment, there are too many players in the squad, who are a surplus to the former Chelsea boss.

Bastian Schweintsteiger and Adnan Januzaj are likely to be allowed to leave the club. Schweinsteiger struggled with fitness as well as form in his first season at Manchester United under the helm of Louis van Gaal.

Januzaj, on the other hand, returned from Borussia Dortmund as his loan period got over.

Marcus Rojo, Phil Jones and Memphis Depay will be getting a few more chances to prove their mettle or else they too might be shown the exit door. These players have failed to impress Mourinho in the pre-season fixtures as well.

"I'm really happy [with my squad]. It's the first time I've worked with such a number of players because I'm used to working with 20 plus the keepers, and we have in the squad 23 plus the keepers – and even so we had to make decisions and let some players go on loan, and try to sell others," Mourinho was quoted as saying by the Independent.

"But this group of 23 is a great group and I think in this moment – and I told them this – there is a little bit of frustration for the ones that I have not selected. They work hard to be in the match and they aren't, and this is going to happen in the next two or three weeks because we have just one Premier League match."

"But in September, the Capital One Cup starts, the Europa League starts, we start playing three matches a week and then everybody is involved and the squad is good. The empathy between the guys is really good too, so I'm happy with the squad."

While there were rumours that Juan Mata will be sold by Mourinho ahead of the start of the new season, Mourinho has swept all the rumours aside and had confirmed that the Spaniard will be playing an important role in the upcoming season.

Mourinho has already attracted the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitariyan and Eric Bailly even without Champions League action. It seems that he is determined to bring the glory days back at the Old Trafford.
