Bachelor Nation host Chris Harrison made a surprising announcement Monday when he named JoJo Fletcher as the next "Bachelorette."

According to multiple reports, Caila Quinn was to be the next "Bachelorette" and she was even spotted filming for her "The Bachelorette" introductory segment. However, producers apparently had a change of heart at the last moment.

The season 20 finale of "The Bachelor," which was aired March 14, saw Fletcher, a real estate developer, being left heartbroken after Ben Higgins dumped her and popped the question to Lauren Bushnell. Thanks to ABC, Fletcher is now getting yet another shot at love.

"She is a woman who the entire country fell in love with and I know that you're all hoping that she is able to fall in love again," host Harrison said while announcing Fletcher as the next "Bachelorette." "So I would like to please welcome our new Bachelorette: JoJo!"

Season 12 of "The Bachelorette" will premiere in May. Before that, here are a few things to know about the new "Bachelorette."

1. Her culture is important to her - "My mom is Persian, and my Dad was born and raised in Tennessee. I'm proud of my mother's background despite what social opinions are. It's important for me to stand up to people stereotyping Iranians," Fletcher said in her ABC bio.

2. She has protective brothers â€“ During the hometown dates, viewers saw Fletcher's brother Ben confronting Higgins about not being as invested in the relationship as his sister was. "Ben, you brainwash these girls way too much," Fletcher's brother said. "To see my sister like that after two [one-on-one] dates...as a brother, I'm like, 'This guy is not as invested as she is.'"

3. Loves adventurous activities â€“ Besides golf, the real estate developer from Dallas is fond of zip linking and waterfall jumping.

4. Wants to be Taylor Swift - "She's awesome and I've already thought singing country music professionally would be so much fun. Plus, she has cool friends," Fletcher wrote
