Bollywood actor John Abraham's upcoming comedy sequel "Welcome Back" will have him in a colourful vagabond role, quite like Aamir Khan's role in "Rangeela".

Aamir with his classic 'tapori' act in the 1995 box office hit "Rangeela" had immortalised his loud and colorful character. And now with "Welcome Back" John aims to replicate the same though within different parameters.

The 40-year-old told Press Trust of India (PTI) on Saturday, "It is a completely different film and role, but the template is Aamir Khan in 'Rangeela'."

"But it is still very different. It is going to be a lot of fun. People will be shocked to see me in this role and I hope to shock them positively."

The tapori act had given a boost to Aamir's career and now it seems John is following Mr Perfectionist's footsteps by aping him.

Even Ranbir Kapoor, in his upcoming film "Besharam", will be seen in a vagabond avatar with quirky attires.

As for "Welcome Back," John will be seen opposite Shruti Hassan in the Anees Bazmee directorial. The film will also have Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar reprising their respective roles from the 2007 hit "Welcome".

Earlier there were speculations that the comedy sequel might have Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha together on screen. Reports said Big B would play the role of a mafia don while Rekha who would be seen as a fashionista in the flick. However, the filmmakers are yet to confirm on the reports.

The prequel "Welcome" released in 2007 starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Mallika Sherawat had been a blockbuster and grossed over Rs 100 crore worldwide.
