Jaguar Land Rover, the wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, launched on Friday its fourth generation Range Rover SUV in India at a price of ₹1.72 crore.
The 2013 Range Rover launch in the country was followed by its last week launch in China and Europe. The all new Range Rover is redesigned and developed to become lighter than its predecessors. The overhauled version of the vehicle does not integrate many of the changes from its previous model, and by the look it the SUV carries the iconic look of Range Rover series.
Showcased earlier in September in London, the 2013 Range Rover hit the Paris market in the same month. In India, the vehicle will be available in both petrol and diesel variant. The vehicle has been built using the aluminium monocoque frame which helped to present the fourth generation Range Rover as a lighter vehicle than its predecessors. The vehicle is crowned as the first SUV in the world to use aluminium chassis which not only improved the performance of the vehicle but also fuel efficiency as well.
The newly launched Range Rover weighs 420 kg lighter and is 27 mm longer than its predecessors. It knits the changes in all new headlamps and alloy wheels. The 4.4-litre TDV8 diesel engine is priced ₹1.72 crore, and the 5-litre V8 supercharged petrol model is priced ₹1.8 crore. The diesel engine is available in two variants - Vogue SE and Autobiography. 2013 Range Rover will also join the list of the last vehicles launched by Ratan Tata, the chairman of the Tata Group before he steps down in December.
