The trailer of "Yaan" will be released on 3 September. "Yaan", which stars Jiiva and Thulasi Nair in the lead roles, is an action thriller and is the directorial debut of well-acclaimed cinematographer Ravi K Chandran.

"Yaan" tells the story of an easy-go-lucky guy (played by Jiiva) who gets trapped in an unusual situation in Morroco. The film will also discuss some sensitive human rights issues.

The lead heroine, Thulasi Nair, is reportedly chosen after being recommended by Mani Ratnam. She had debuted in Mani Ratnam's 2013 film "Kadal" for which she was nominated for Best Debut Actress in Vijay Awards and SIIMA Awards. In the film "Yaan", Thulasi will play the character of an Army officer's daughter.

"Yaan" was announced during the end of 2012. The initial schedule of the film went well in Mumbai. The rest of the film, which was supposed to be shot in Morocco got delayed because of certain visa procedural issues and the shooting of the film got stalled. However, the team later sorted out the issues and shot the film in many exotic locations of Morocco, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Switzerland.

The film also has the star cast of Nasser, Prakash Raj, Tambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, Arjunan and Shrutismrithi Changkakoti.

The music is composed by Harris Jayaraj and was launched in May 2014. The film has a total of five songs. The lyrics were written by Kavingar Vaali, Kabilan, Pa Vijay and Thamarai and were rendered by Devan Ekambaram, Divya Vijay, Krishna Iyer, Gana Bala, MC Vickey, Arjun Menon, Chinmayi, Pravin Saivi, Unnikrishnan, Bombay Jayashri, KK Megha and Ramya NSK.

The cinematography was done by Manush Nandan and the art direction by Sabu Cyril. The film was edited by Sreekar Prasad and the fight sequences were choreographed by Musthapha Touki, who is known for his work in 2007 hit Hollywood film "The Bourne Ultimatum".

"Yaan' is produced by Elred Kumar and Jayaraman under the banner of RS Infotainment that had earlier produced blockbusters including Gautham Menon's "Vinnaithandi Varuvaya" and K V Anand's "Ko".
