The ongoing conflict between Iran and the US, backing Israel, has created tensions not just worldwide but has also divided netizens and their geopolitical opinions. Many have taken to social media and voiced their opinions over the ongoing conflict. Some celebs are calling for peace, many are backing the US and Israel, while others are slamming Iran. Most of the Shia Muslims are unhappy with the brutal killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and have taken to the streets of Lucknow, Bangalore, and Jammu and Kashmir, among other parts of India.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has triggered a fresh controversy after a series of late-night posts about the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. Taking to social media, he wrote, 'Fight between Jesus and Allah.'
In one of his posts, Ram Gopal Varma described the conflict in religious terms. "The fight between AMERICA and IRAN is the fight between JESUS and ALLAH".
He went on to add, "Whoever wins, I will CONVERT to that."
The statement sparked immediate backlash. Many users criticised him for linking a geopolitical conflict to religion and called the remark insensitive.

On Ayatollah Khamenei's assassination
A few days ago, Ram Gopal Varma had commented on the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. In a post on X, he had said, "Ayotallah Khamenei is hiding, and Trump is not hiding, and the point is made."
Iran has been retaliating even as the US and Israel continued their strikes as of Tuesday, and has expanded the areas coming under the barrage of Iranian missiles and drones, targeting several of Washington's assets in the region. "Their air defence, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership are gone. They want to talk. I said, 'Too late!'" Trump said in a Truth Social post, commenting on an opinion piece.
Trump, speaking separately at the White House, said he expected the campaign to last four to five weeks, but that US forces had the capacity to go longer if necessary.
