Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who is best known as one half of the first family of ABC's "Modern Family", is celebrating his 40th birthday on Thursday, 22 October.

In spite of the busy schedule that comes with being part of one of the best comedy shows on TV, Ferguson has been making a lot of appearances in reality shows including "Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris" on 21 October.

He also founded Tie The Knot with his husband Justin Mikita. The non-profit organisation produces limited edition bow ties seasonally, and proceeds from the same go to various organisations that fight for the civil rights of gay and lesbian Americans and the international public education campaign.

In celebration of the talented actor and philanthropist's 40th birthday, let us reminisce some of the best lines he said as Mitchell in "Modern Family", including those he shared with his on-screen husband Eric Stonestreet aka Cam:

Cam: Let's get this woman into bed and in the morning out of the house as fast as we can. Honestly, I don't know how straight guys do it.
Mitchell: Probably without those hand gestures.

Cam: Umm well I can raise the roof and do the cabbage patch.
Mitchell: And I can do the single lady hand thing.
Cam: Yeah but put your neck into it or you just look like the Queen waving.

News Reporter: How does your spouse feel about you coaching?
Cam: Oh this one, he's my rock, he's my Connie Britton.
Mitchell: Your Connie Britton?
Cam: Mrs. Coach on Friday Night Lights.

Mitchell: Why don't we put Lily in one of Alex's shirts for the picture tonight?
Cam: She'll see right through that.
Mitchell: No you're thinking of Haley's shirts.

Claire: We are having fun.
Mitchell: You are. I'm just doing what you're making me do.

Cam: I'm playing a drinking game. It's called every time I feel depressed about something, I take a drink.
Mitchell: That's already a game. It's called alcoholism.

Mitchell: Oh my god. That burger was so good, I feel like I just cheated on you.
Cam: Yeah, I heard the moaning.

Cam: I'm a doer and an action taker. Sean Penn would play me in a movie about this. Or Anne Hathaway if they wanted a female-driven vehicle.
Mitchell: And who would play your long suffering partner?
Cam: Julianne Moore either way.
Mitchell: I would totally see that. I would.

Catch "Modern Family" at at 9.00pm (EST) on Wednesdays on ABC.
