Jennifer Lopez and "Dancing with the Stars" star Maksim Chmerkovskiy are not an item, although fans of the two would have loved to see them together.
Lopez split from boy toy Casper Smart, after he was accused of being involved in a sexting relationship with two transgender women. Although Smart denied claims that he was involved with these women, JLo ended their relationship last week, and multiple reports claimed that she was quick to find comfort in the arms of Chmerkovskiy.
"It's really new," a source close to the pair told New York Daily News about their relationship.
However, JLo slammed dating rumors on Thursday tweeting,"No I'm not. #rumors #nottrue #AKAinstoresJune17 :)" adding a plug for her upcoming album, "A.K.A."
When a fan asked her to clarify the tweet, she added: "No I'm not. (dating anyone new already.)"
Chmerkovskiy, who is currently in Mumbai as a judge on dancing reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa," too, took to his Twitter account to vaguely address the dating rumors.
"I've got 4 words for everyone: LIVE AND LET LIVE! NAMASTE Y'ALL," he wrote.
Despite these clarifications from both JLo and Chmerkovskiy, several sources have come forward with claims that the two are indeed an item.
JLo and Chmerkovskiy reportedly met through common friend Leah Remini and he even danced onstage with her at the American Music Awards in November. Although there was an undeniable spark between them, they did not take their relationship further as both of them were involved with other people. While JLo was in a relationship with Smart, Chmerkovskiy was dating Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton at the time, reports said.
Us Weekly, citing a source, reported on Thursday that although JLo and the Ukrainian ballroom dancer were "just friends," Remini appears to be keen to get them together.
"Leah is trying to play matchmaker with Maks and Jennifer," a source said, adding, "She's really egging it on and encouraging it."
New York Daily News reported citing a Life & Style source that in late March, JLo and Chmerkovskiy were "inseparable" and they were seen getting cozy at the Redbury Hotel in Los Angeles.
At one point, Chmerkovskiy even put his arm around her waist and they appeared to be locked in a passionate conversation, the magazine reported.
Meanwhile, Smart too appears to have moved on. On Tuesday, he was reportedly seen partying with playboy Wilmer Valderrama.
"He was being super flirty and didn't seem to have one care at all about the recent news of breakup with J. Lo or the (sexting) news that surfaced!" said one partygoer in Los Angeles.
