Taran Adarsh tweeted: Watched #Jazbaa. A captivating thriller with a powerful finale. Slick, stylish & fast-paced, the film's high point is it's taut screenplay. Aishwarya makes a stunning impact, conveying a gamut of emotions [grief, strong-willed, determined] with aplomb. Finest work so far. #Jazbaa Sanjay Gupta's deft direction uplifts even an ordinary sequence. Aiding him are punch-packed dialogue and superb cinematography. #Jazbaa. #Jazbaa also boasts of two stellar performances: Irrfan [outstanding] and Shabana Azmi [remarkable]. Two major strengths of this film.

Sneha May Francis of Emirates 24/7 said: "Despite landing a great idea, 'Jazbaa' remains a shallow watch, where Gupta indulges his South Korean fetish but never challenges himself or his characters to create a world that could've been menacingly gripping."

Manjusha Radhakrishnan of Gulf News said: "Unwanted attention is paid, instead, on capturing the beauty of Mumbai — a bustling metropolis filled with skyscrapers and slums in sepia tones — and on Rai Bachchan's bloodshot eyes (read: anguish)."

Subha Shetty-Saha of Mid-Day said: "If only Gupta had gone a little easy on the unnecessary and intrusive melodrama. Even then, it's a good one time watch for sure."

Meena Iyer of The Times of India said: "Jazbaa's narrative has pace and power. From screeching car sequences to emotionally-charged showdowns between his accomplished lead cast; the film throbs."

Subhash K Jha in his review said: "It's a hardhitting unconstitutional message, packaged and projected with a precarious panache peculiar to Sanjay Gupta's cinema."

Pinkvilla in it's review said: "Had Irrfan not ended the film with the regressive "Mohabbat thi isliye jaane diya...zid hoti toh baahon mein hoti...", we could've considered being kinder. Hoots aside, get some perspective commercial cinema!"
