Prime Minister Narendra Modi's outreach to Gen Z appears to have taken a new turn, with the Prime Minister increasingly using youth-centric language, social media and direct interactions to connect with younger voters.
From using terms such as "OG" and "flex" during his address at Shri Ram College of Commerce to sharing selfie videos on Instagram, Modi has been adopting a more informal style while reaching out to the younger generation. His latest Gen Z outreach was visible in Vadodara, where thousands of young people gathered to attend his event at Maharaja Sayajirao University.
The Vadodara event came amid the BJP's renewed focus on connecting with Gen Z, particularly following recent youth-led protests at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak issue. Following the protests, Modi had urged party leaders to make greater efforts to connect with young people.
Modi walks the ramp in Vadodara
Ahead of the formal event, Modi received a rousing welcome from young people at the university. A special Y-shaped ramp was built for the Prime Minister, allowing him to walk among students and professionals seated around it.
As Modi walked along the ramp, waving to the crowd, a fusion of Queen's "We Will Rock You" and "Aari Aari" from Dhurandhar: The Revenge played in the background. The moment quickly became one of the highlights of the event.
The event also saw a new approach to registration, with attendees allowed to register through BookMyShow. All available seats were reportedly filled within an hour, while more than 42,000 people were placed on the waiting list.

From 'OG' to 'flex'
Modi's Gen Z outreach is not limited to large public events. During his recent address at SRCC's centenary celebrations, he used popular Gen Z expressions such as "OG" and "flex" while speaking about the college and its alumni.
The Prime Minister said that calling oneself an SRCC alumnus was "a flex" and referred to the college's alumni as the "real OG". He also referred to the popular Bollywood film Dhurandhar during his speech.
His social media presence has also become an important part of the outreach. Modi has shared selfie-style videos on Instagram and used youth-oriented messaging to speak directly to younger audiences.

BJP focuses on Gen Z
The BJP's focus on Gen Z comes at a time when young voters and student issues have increasingly become part of the political conversation. The Jantar Mantar protests over the NEET paper leak highlighted the growing visibility of youth-led political mobilisation.
The party has also been experimenting with more contemporary language. BJP MPs have recently used terms such as "MIA", "FOMO" and "Delulu" during Parliament proceedings as part of attempts to communicate with younger audiences.
In Vadodara, however, the outreach was combined with the Prime Minister's development agenda. Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore, including major railway, highway and freight corridor projects.
The Vadodara event, therefore, combined infrastructure development with a distinctly youth-focused presentation, highlighting the BJP's broader effort to engage directly with a generation that consumes much of its political content through social media and digital platforms.
