Pakistan once again violated ceasefire along the border, killing an Indian Army soldier in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Tuesday.

The latest ceasefire violation took place in the Nowgam sector after a Pakistani sniper opened fire near the LOC at about 1 pm, the Press Trust of India reported.

The martyred soldier was a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Kumaon Regiment, who was shot when he was stepping out of his bunker, as per reports.

The Indian Army retaliated to the Pakistani firing, IANS reported.

The ceasefire violation comes days after India and Pakistan cancelled their NSA-level talks after reaching a stalemate over the topics for discussion.

Only 10 days ago, six civilians were killed in firing from the Pakistani side.

In August alone, there have been 52 ceasefire violations by Pakistan, and 245 since the beginning of the year.
