The militant assault in Jammu & Kashmir ended with the killing of the two terrorists who had launched an attack on an Army installation, lobbing grenades at the camp in Samba on Saturday morning. As per NDTV reports, the heated exchange of gunfire also resulted in the death of a civilian while another man is said to have been grievously injured.

"Two terrorists have been killed in the Samba attack," defence minister Manohar Parrikar was quoted as saying.

Sources told reporters that the 81 Armoured Regiment Camp was attacked by two terrorists who began their anti-social activities early on Saturday morning. They fired continuously at the camp from behind the bushes in the area and the army school located there.

A big troupe of armed forces was deployed at the site of the ambush.

Since Friday's terrorist attacks, the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway has remained close in order to combat traffic. "Let's wait for the reports. Our forces are on high alert since yesterday," Jammu and Kashmir deputy CM Nirmal Singh was quoted as saying.

The terrorist attack began on Friday after two ultras, dressed as Indian armymen, crossed the LoC, hijacked a Jeep and vandalised a police station in Kathua district and began firing at the security forces in which four people lost their lives.

The two terrorists were killed after a heavy gunbattle of six hours.

This has been the first major atrocity of the militants since the PDP-BJP formed a coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir.
