Seven terrorists were killed as the Indian Army foiled multiple infiltration attempts into Jammu and Kashmir by armed terrorists at the behest of the Pakistan Army, the army said in a statement on Thursday. The operation is still underway.

"Multiple attempts by Pakistan Army to infiltrate armed groups into Kashmir foiled. Seven armed infiltrators killed. Operation is in progress," the Indian Army said adding that "large quantities of arms, ammunition and war like stores have been recovered."

Infiltration bid foiled in Naugam

One soldier lost his life while three terrorists were killed as the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt in the Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Thursday.

Alert troops foil another infiltration bid in Naugam sector. Two terrorists have been killed, while one soldier has been martyred," an Army official was quoted by the Hindu as saying. The operation is still underway, he added. Security forces have recovered weapons from the deceased terrorists.

Infiltration bid foiled in Uri sector

Five to six terrorists tried to infiltrate into the Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir early on Thursday. Two jawans got injured in the encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces following the infiltration attempt.

This is the second infiltration attempt that the Indian Army has foiled in the last 24 hours and the fourth one along the LoC in less than two weeks.

Bank loot attempt in Pulwama foiled

Security forces also foiled a bank loot attempt by terrorists in Wanpora in the state's Pulwama district on Thursday.

Three terrorists were killed on Wednesday when the army foiled a major infiltration bid along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.

On May 26 this year, two militants were killed when Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid by the Border Action Team of Pakistan along the LoC in Uri sector.

On September 18 last year, 19 soldiers died when four Pakistan-based terrorists infiltrated the LoC and opened fire on a camp at the Army Brigade headquarters in the Uri district of the state.
