New Delhi, Feb 3 (ANI): In a landmark verdict, a metropolitan court in Bangladesh has handed out death penalty to 14 people, including the Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rehman Nizami and prominent leader of separatist Indian outfit ULFA, Paresh Barua in the Chittagong arms haul case. BNP leader Lutfozzaman Babar has also been sentenced to death. The seizure, which took place on April 1 2004 in Chittagong, was of 10-truck loads of weapons which were headed to the ULFA hideouts in north-eastern India through Bangladesh. ULFA’s military wing Chief Paresh Barua has been sentenced to death in absentia.
