The name for South Korean auto maker Hyundai's soon-to-be-launched ix25 compact SUV has finally been revealed. The auto maker on Tuesday, 2 June, revealed that the new ix25 SUV will be monikered 'Creta' in India and other export markets.

Revealing the name, the company said "Hyundai Creta" will be an influential global model for the Hyundai Motor brand in one of the fastest-growing vehicle segments, helping the company to reach out to many more consumers in new and established international markets. The company also confirmed that Hyundai Creta will enter the Indian market in the second half of this year.

Hyundai Creta aka ix25, a much-awaited and desired model in India, is expected to be unveiled in the country later this month. Currently, the model is believed to be in its final stages of testing and is likely to hit the showrooms before the festive season.

Hyundai Creta aka ix25 is likely to be priced in the range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh in India and when launched, the model will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano.

Under the hood, the India–specific Hyundai Creta SUV is speculated to get 1.6-litre petrol and diesel mills with 5- and 6-speed manual transmission. In the international market, ix25 is sold with 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines coupled with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, with the choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
