Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor of "Rock On" and "Kai Po Che" fame is all set to start his next project with Sushant Singh Rajput in October this year.

Speculations have been on the rise as to who would be the leading lady of the yet-to-be titled film. Earlier there were reports that Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif would play the leading lady. But the director suggests that the female lead has not yet been finalised.

"It's a sensitive love story and we are still in the scripting stage. Sushant is playing the lead and nothing else has been finalized," Kapoor told Indo-Asian News Service.

This is the second time that Sushant is teaming up with Abhishek Kapoor after their superhit film "Kai Po Che," which is based on author Chetan Bhagat's novel "The 3 Mistakes of My Life." Their new film is an adaptation of Charles Dickens's classic novel "Great Expectations." Sushant's character is inspired by Philip Pirrip, also known as Pip.

It will be produced by Ekta Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures banner. Interestingly, Sushant began his career on television with the Balaji serial, "Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil." Later, he became popular through another Balaji's serial titled "Pavitra Rishta."

In 2011, Sushant quit the serial and there were reports of an alleged fallout between the TV actor tuned film star and Ekta. But, now the duo has reunited for Abishek's project.

Earlier, there was buzz that Sushant would not be doing the film in the wake of busy schedules. Later, Abhishek confirmed that Sushant has been finalised for the male lead role. But, there is no confirmation on the female lead.

Sushant is currently busy with his upcoming projects including Yash Raj Films' "Shuddh Desi Romance" co-starring Parnineeti Chopra and "Peekay" (P.K.) with Aamir Khan.
