She is an incredibly talented instrumentalist so it is no surprise that The Corrs singer Sharon Corr believes there should be more pop stars writing their own music.

Ahead of her performance at the Isle of Wight Festival 2015 on 12 June, the 45-year-old told the IBTimes UK backstage at Newports Seaclose Park that she is bored by most of the music that is currently popular on the charts.

The violinist admitted: I get bored, theres a certain quality to an artist writing, creating and performing their own material.

Some of it sounds like it was put out in a factory and then auto-tuned to make it sound better. Expectations are pretty low and I think thats kind of shameful. I dont get up there and fake it. If you say you do your job, then do your job.

Praising Grammy-winner Adele and Take Me To Church hitmaker Hozier for their talents, Corr stated: Theres some great stuff out there, absolutely great.

Adele is really amazing so theres the bar really high and it needs to be that high. Her voice exposed is just one of the most beautiful things in the world.

The mother-of-two added: Hozier is absolutely incredible. Im proud that an artist of that calibre has come out of Ireland.

However, the Radio singer did note that artists are often pushed to take certain directions with their music by music industry executives, explaining: A lot of that is manipulation as well. Theres a lot of suits in this industry who think that they can put a band together and thats music.

Corr has an exciting summer planned with the hitmaker set to reunite with her sisters, Andrea, Caroline and brother Jim, for a string of performances.

Revealing how their anticipated reunion came about, Corr explained: It just happened organic and it felt like the right time to do it. We also want our kids to see us perform, weve got eight kids between us. Its exciting.

Its pretty cool. I got accustomed to being solo and that journey is really easy for me now being up there on my own. But its half the work writing-wise because with The Corrs we all write. The way I look at music, that chemistry is magic. Its a different type of magic.

Confirming rumours that the group are working on a brand new album, Corr enthused: Were writing at the moment and it sounds pretty great.
