Iran's embassy in Tunisia has turned to Bollywood humour to take a dig at US President Donald Trump amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The embassy shared a meme featuring actor Akshay Kumar on its official X account, using his contrasting expressions to mock Trump. The meme is from the 2006 Bollywood comedy Deewane Huye Paagal.
The post referred to Iran's claim that it had captured a US underwater drone near the entrance of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Along with the meme, the embassy wrote, "Lost an underwater [drone]. Oil is nearing $100. Elections are coming. How's it going, Trump?"
The post comes amid growing tensions between Iran and the US, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a key focus because of its importance to global oil supplies. The reference to oil prices nearing $100 and upcoming US elections added to the embassy's taunt aimed at Trump.

The use of an Akshay Kumar meme also caught the attention of Indian social media users, who reacted to the unusual combination of Bollywood and international politics. Several users praised the meme, while others joked about the Iranian embassy using Indian pop culture to take a swipe at the US President.
This is not the first time an Iranian diplomatic mission has used an Indian film meme to comment on US-Iran tensions. Earlier this year, the Iranian consulate in Mumbai shared a scene from the 2007 comedy Dhamaal to represent the US being chased by Iran, captioning it, "Indian memes are GOAT."
