The second leg of IPL 7 will return to India on 2 May and will go on till the final on 1 June. The BCCI announced the full schedule and venue of the remaining 40 matches, which will follow the 20 matches to be held in the UAE, on Thursday.
The first match will be held in Ranchi, the second home-ground of Chennai Super Kings this season, between CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders, while the final will be played in Mumbai.
"I am pleased that we are now able to confirm the dates for the rest of the season," Sunil Gavaskar, the interim BCCI president, said. "It is great news that the fans back home in India will be able to watch a large part of IPL 2014. Given the various challenges and the logistical complexities, we have spent a considerable amount of time in crafting a balanced schedule."
"We are delighted to have the season back in India at the start of May. Organising an event of this scale at multiple venues in two countries is an enormous organisational undertaking," Ranjib Biswal, IPL Governing Council chairman, added.
Each team will play nine matches in India with five of the eight teams playing at least four matches at home. There are only two changes to the UAE leg of the IPL. The match between Kings XI Punjab and KKR on 26 April in Abu Dhabi will now be a home match for KKR while the match between RCB and KXIP on 28 April in Dubai will be a home match for the latter.
There will be no matches held in Jaipur, Raipur and Dharamsala. Also, there will be no matches held on Thursday, 1 May; Friday, 16 May and Saturday, 17 May due to lack of security arrangements as a result of the general elections.
