KXIP heavily depend on their batting lineup, and especially on Maxwell, who has not managed to impress with the bat. Maxwell could not make an impact in Kings XI's first game of IPL 2016, against the Gujarat Lions in Mohali.

The Australian all-rounder was knocked over by a beautiful yorker from Dwayne Bravo in that game. The performance of Maxwell for KXIP in, last season, was below par too, compared to the carnage he brought about in IPL 2014.

If KXIP want to get back to winning ways, then Maxwell has to fire in the middle order. He plays a pivotal role in the batting lineup.

Kings XI Punjab captain David Miller, however, is backing Maxwell to perform with the bat in IPL 2016.

"Maxwell is a proven match-winner. He possesses the ability to clear grounds at will and I don't think I would want him to change his approach. I am sure Maxwell knows what is needed to be done for him to make an impact," Miller was quoted as saying by TOI.

KXIP seem to have a settled opening pair for IPL 2016. Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra got off to a good start in their first game against the Gujarat Lions and Miller is unlikely to make any changes at the top. Miller is hopeful that his KXIP side can pick up a win against the Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Friday.

"We have the team to go the distance. Be it the top order, where we have Murali Vijay, Manan Vohra opening, to the middle order and our bowling, I think we have our bases covered. It will all boil down to how we execute our plans on the field," Miller added.
