Apple seems to have benefited from Samsung's misfortune, as a report has claimed that the sales of its recently released iPhone 7 Plus did better than expected. However, the shipment volume of the iPhone 7 is said to be lower than the iPhone 6s that was released last year.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 received a huge setback after the company was forced to recall all the units sold over faulty battery. This could have made prospective buyers look at the iPhone 7 Plus as an alternative.

Min-chi Kuo, a popular market analyst at KGI securities, has said a survey has revealed that the iPhone 7 Plus surpassed Apple's expectations, leading to shortage in supply. However, it went on to say that the iPhone 6s shipment volume is higher than the iPhone 7.

The survey also found out that the Jet Black version is the most demanded colour with about 30 to 35 percent of pre-orders worldwide preferring this colour of the iPhone 7 Plus, while it is 45 percent to 50 percent in China. The 128GB model is the most demanded model.

However, Kuo has predicted that Apple will witness a decline in year-over-year shipments of the new device, despite iPhone 7 Plus good sales.

Earlier, German research firm GfK claimed in a report that the launch weekend sale of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus was 25 percent lower year-over-year.
