Intex Technologies on Tuesday revealed its plan to release 20 new Android smartphones to the burgeoning Indian mobilephone market in the next three months.

The company, which is currently offering 12 mid-segment smartphones in India under its Aqua range, also eyes to sell two million Aqua smartphone in the year 2103-2014.

"The smartphone penetration is growing and is encouraging for handset companies like us to innovate and bring offerings that combine latest technologies and features at affordable prices," Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Intex Technologies GM (mobility division) told Press Trust of India, adding that "We launched our smartphone range in September last year and have seen very good response. Last month, we sold seven lakh handsets of which, Aqua contributed over one lakh."

Meanwhile, Intex rolled out its latest offering in the Aqua range on Tuesday. The Android smartphone dubbed as Intex Aqua I-5 sports 5.0-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor. In terms of memory, the handset packs 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by up to 32GB via microSD card. The phone comes with 12-megapixel rear auto-focus camera with flash and a 2-megapixel front -facing camera. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating systems and supports the connectivity features like 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. It packs 2,000mAh battery, which claims a talk time up to 5 hours and standby time of about 7 days. 

"I am a tech enthusiast and have an inexplicable love for gadgets that make my life easier and exciting. My phone is an extension of who I am and thus need to have features that would simplify my life. Intex Aqua gives me the option to read on the go, shop online, play games, capture moments and stay connected with my family at all times," company's brand ambassador and Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar said at the launch event.

The latest offering of Intex - Aqua I-5 - is priced at ₹11,690 in the market and will be available black and white colour variants.
